What is Styrene Acrylic Emulsion?
Styrene acrylic emulsion is produced by the copolymerization reaction of styrene and acrylic monomers. Therefore, it has both the rigidity of styrene and the flexibility of acrylic ester, and is also known as styrene acrylic copolymer emulsion.
- Excellent Adhesion
- Water and Alkali Resistance
- Weather Resistance
- Flexibility and Non-Stickiness

Advantages of Styrene Acrylic Emulsion
Regardless of whether it is in a high-temperature and humid environment or a low-temperature and humid environment, it will have no effect on the substrate after the film formation; when applied to alkaline substrates such as concrete, cement mortar or gypsum board and used for a long time, the coating remains firmly attached.
The weather resistance and adhesion of styrene acrylic emulsion are demonstrated by the fact that regardless of the harsh environment, the film formation and wear resistance remain excellent, maintaining brightness, color stability and quality continuously. Such phenomena as bulging, peeling or detachment rarely occur.
Celotech Ruico Styrene Acrylic Emulsion Properties

After forming the film, even if it is scratched with a hard object, no scratches will appear. It can withstand various friction and collisions, and can maintain its integrity even on surfaces that are frequently in contact or rubbing.

After use, there is little residual of low monomers and low VOCs emissions, which meet all the indicators for green building materials product certification, and have a low environmental impact.

The glass transition temperature (Tg) of styrene acrylic emulsion is relatively high, so during the film formation process, the rate of water evaporation will be faster and more efficient.

The viscosity is highly adaptable. When combined with the appropriate additives, it can quickly spread out on the surface and will not cause any marks or shrinkage holes when applied.

The coating formed by styrene acrylic emulsion has a dense cross-linked structure, which can prevent water vapor from penetrating and thus avoid phenomena such as blistering and cracking.

It can form high-quality coatings even at the lowest temperature of -10°C, and this does not affect the adhesion on various substrates.
Styrene Acrylic Emulsion Application

Styrene acrylic emulsion is the core film-forming substance of interior and exterior wall coatings. Its application principle in coatings is to form a film through water dispersion and combine with pigments, fillers, and additives to form a continuous coating.

The styrene acrylic emulsion in waterproof coatings serves as the base material and achieves waterproofing function through pure organic film formation or combined with cement film formation, making its weather resistance, alkali resistance, water resistance, and other properties more excellent.

Adding styrene acrylic emulsion to the basecoats for film formation can form a transition layer, achieving sealing, bonding, and enhancing three core functions, and having a high cost-performance and convenient construction.

Styrene acrylic emulsion is the core film-forming substance and adhesive of real stone paint, used in the base layer. It has strong adhesion and can prevent the coating from whitening, cracking, and peeling, making it the preferred choice for high-end base materials in real stone paint.

It can also be used as a binder for paper, wood, textiles, etc., and can be applied in industrial fields such as offset printing ink and composite materials.

Quick FAQ about Styrene Acrylic:
Tianjin Port or Shanghai Port.
Essentially, they are the same polymer, just with different names. The term styrene acrylate is often used to emphasize that it contains acrylate monomers.
The styrene acrylic copolymer emulsion is superior. Its clear copolymer structure can ensure product stability and performance. Self-crosslinking copolymer emulsions exhibit improved water and crack resistance and better meet the core requirements of waterproof coatings.
Yes.
To avoid microbial contamination during processing and in open packaging, hygiene issues must be given priority. In some cases, adding disinfectants may be a wise measure to prevent microbial problems.
