Industry Challenges in Cement & Mortar
You know the dosage of defoamer is significant for drymix mortar & concrete, it must be precise and controlled well.
Insufficient Dosage: The bubbles in concrete can’t be eliminated effectively, result in poor density, strength, and rough surface.
Excessive Dosage: More issues will come out, such as:
- Reduced Strength and Durability:Excessive defoamer destroys the beneficial micro-bubbles within the concrete, reduces freeze-thaw resistance and compressive strength.
- Reducing Workability:Too low surface tension of the concrete paste caused slump reducing, poor flowability, low pumping efficiency, and even segregation.
- Delayed Setting Time:May retard cement hydration process, extending setting time.
- Surface Defects(pinholes, voids) :Disrupts air structure, poor finish quality. Our cement defoamer addresses these challenges effectively.

Defoamer for Cement & Concrete Solution
Defoamer isn’t optional, it is an essential guarantee for both the quality of mortar application and its long-term durability. Celotech Ruico is dedicated to enhance your mortar system efficiency, comprehensive strength, improve surface finish, and lasting durability. Not solve air bubbles simply only. See how our solution improve your mortar cement performance one by one.
| Challenges | Our Product Solution | Key Benefit |
| Excessive bubbles | High efficiency defoamers | Rapid air release; Improves mortar density |
| Surface defects (pinholes, voids) | Optimize surface activity | Smooth surface finish; Reduce the pinholes, voids |
| Compromised workability | May reduce pumping efficiency and workability; Could increase labor or time | Reduces foam; Improves flowability and workability |
| Reduced strength | Low dosage with high efficiency formulation | Keeping mortar fluidity and maintaining strength by minimal dosages |
| Drying shrinkage issues | Stabilized mortar volume | Reducing micro cracks & durability risk |
| Stable chemistry |
Recommended Products from Celotech Ruico
The silicone-based defoamers are suitable for applications that need high defoaming efficiency at low dosage.
Our mineral oil-based defoamers are well compatible with architectural coatings, printing ink and waterborne materials.
Our silicone-free defoamers have good spreading that can work effectively in both water-based and solvent-based systems.
Our Product Advantages

Liquid defoamer disperses faster, takes effect more promptly, eliminate large macro bubbles immediately.

- Compatible with HPMC, PCE, HEC, PU, SBR, acrylicis for various systems(OPC, blended, special mixes)

Reduces porosity, increases densityand get smoother surface, increased compressive strength.

Providing cost-effective air control with low dosage cost effective
Cement Defoamer Selection Guide
For water-based system: our liquid/emulsion defoamer is suitable for coatings and paints applications.
For different alkalinity system:
High-alkaline (cement) → Non-ionic or silicone-based liquid defoamer is enough
Low-alkaline → Mineral oil defoamer may be sufficient
For various project requirements:
Smooth surface: Silicone-based defoamer is preferred
Fast pumping → Liquid formulations is recommended

Recommended Usage Guidelines for Cement Defoamers
Suitable Systems: Self-leveling cement, cement mortar, concrete, etc.
Addition stage: Typically, better to add liquid defoamer at the initial stage of mixing cement and water.
Dosage: Conduct trial additions at a dosage of 0.1% to 0.5% based on the total volume of the cement or dry-mix mortar before large scale application. Overdosing defoamer may reduce strength or impair pumping flow.
Compatibility test: Always recommended for new formulations
Dispersion Uniformity: Make ensure the defoamer disperses rapidly within the mixing; or its effectiveness will be compromised.
Security Protection: Protective gloves and a face mask are necessary when handling to avoid contact with the skin and eyes.

FAQ About Drymix Mortar Anti-foam Agents
Defoamer can remove both marco and micro bubbles caused by additives like HPMC, RDP, superplasticizers, make the mortar to flow smoothly, spread evenly, improve the structure of integrity, avoid pinholes, voids or bubbles on the surface.
Yes, our cement defoamer is engineered by strict local conditions, it can be applied in cold weather by eliminating bubbles in the mortar, through reducing water absorption and enhancing resistance to freeze-thaw cycles.
No, our defoaming agents usually have good compatibility with other cement additives. We can cooperate with you to test and adjust the usage.
Typically, it can disperse quickly in mixing and instant defoaming.
For the dry mix, we reccommend you use the powder defoamer, our another series Foamsolver. For wet mix, our liquid anti-foam agent is best choice with significant advantages.
Most liquid defoamers are designed to be storage-stable at 5℃-35℃, it may have slightly phase separation or sedimentation depending on formulation and storage conditions.
